The Earth is under corporate companies domination. A group of anachist slaves sent to Mars overcame their captors and declared Mars a free colony. The companies has dispatched the first inter-planetary regiment ever divised by the Earth to exterminate the martian colony. If you defeat them, the companies could fall in bankrupt and maybe the earth will be free one day.
